2010 Chorus Contest

Become a part of the very best singing organization for men of all ages.
A place to learn great singing techniques, and put them to use singing some of the best arrangements exploring all styles of music.
A place of great fellowship and harmony!

Welcome to the Algona Cornbelt Chorus website. The chorus is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly known as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA). Located in the Central States District, the chorus has been small chorus champions for 8 years before moving from A division to AA division. The chorus took eighth place in 2003 competing against AA and AAA choruses.

The chorus is made up of 40+ members within a 60 mile radius of Algona. Luke Miller is the Chorus Director. Chapter Meetings/Practice is held every Thursday evening, 7:30-9:30 at the Methodist Church, 201 E Nebraska, in Algona, IA in the Wesley room (1 block south of downtown). The chorus extends a warm welcome to any male singer in our region to drop in as a guest, spend and enjoyable evening meeting new people, singing and having good time. You will feel right at home. You will find us on FACEBOOK (Algona Cornbelt Chorus), too. We hope you pay us a visit in the near future.

In case you’re wondering…..90% of the chorus members cannot read music. We provide Learning CD’s to make song learning fast and easy.

The Cornbelt Chorus presents a spring show each year and participates in fall district contest. The chorus also has a Valentines Day fundraiser. A quartet dressed in tuxedos will sing a song or two for the sender’s sweetheart, present them with a rose and a Valentines Day card from the sender. The chorus is available to perform at shows, events and special meetings in Algona and the surrounding communities.
